Clear Your Clutter With Feng Shui by Karen
Kingston
Don't ever clutter your house
- After introducing this book to some of my friends,
they are surprised that their lives have changed
ever since. They simply did some removal of the
cluttering in their homes and discovered that their
careers have improved and relationship in their
houses seem to take a roundabout turn for better.
They use to fight and screamed at each other but it
is gone now. This book is worth your while if you
want to have a change in life.
Highly Recommended - I purchased this book
and started reading it one Friday night while
relaxing. After finishing a couple of chapters I had
a sudden urge to get up and rearrange my living
room, which I did. Over the next few days while
finishing the book, I began "cleaning house". I got
rid of years and years of accumulation - I mean
boxes and boxes and bags and bags of "stuff". I got
to the point that I could not wait to get home from
work to clear out more clutter. And the more I got
rid of the more energetic I felt. I had never in my
life expended much energy on housecleaning - I had
always done "just enough" to keep home presentable.
But clean I did after reading this book - a deep and
thorough clutter clearing and cleaning. When my
daughter visited, she was absolutely shocked at the
change in my living environment. After what I
learned from this book about how clutter impacts my
life, I'll never get back to my previous
clutter-filled state.
And guess what? While clutter clearing, I ran across
"Clear Your Clutter With Feng Shui by KAREN
KINGSTON". I had already purchased this book and
apparently didn't remember for it was hidden in all
of my clutter.
Out out damn clutter - This little book
changed my life. Kingston, by devoting an entire
book to the importance of de-cluttering, offers this
"clutter free" book to wake us up. Easy to read,
understand and relate to, she outlines step by step
instructions for beginning this process. Who would
have thought it would be that tough to throw out
stuff? I came away with a clear understanding of the
important role my 40 years of clutter was playing in
my life, and TOOK ACTION. It's been a long process,
but embedded in my psyche is my new credo - simplify
simplify simplify. Thanks to Kingston I can breathe
again.
Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life - How to Use
Feng Shui to Get Love, Money, Respect and Happiness Book
by Karen Rauch Carter.
No need for mumbo-jumbo - I
was attracted to this book for the very reason that
so many people seem to dislike it: it's basic,
simple, straight-forward. I lived in Asia for 5
years and have accumulated numerous Feng Shui books
- and was completely turned off by the whole
attitude that "real" Feng Shui knowledge and power
is only for those who have "earned" it. I don't
believe this, and neither does Karen. Her attitude
is that the power to change your life is right
there, and with some adjustments, you'll tap into it
- all on your own, with no "masters" or years of
study. While I respect those who can and do study,
the fact is that Feng Shui is an accessible and
simple philosophy, and I see nothing wrong with a
book promoting that.
Another thing I like about this book is that it
troubleshoots many situations, such as what to do if
you live in a flat (as opposed to a house, which so
many of us do) and what to do if part of your
Prosperity, Family, Health and Fame corners fall
outside your flat (as mine do, since I live in an
"L"-shaped flat). Nowhere else have I seen such
practical, real advice.
I walked through my flat with the book in one hand
and I noticed that all areas of my life that are
going well (Helpful Friends, Creativity, Career,
Knowledge, Relationships) already have things that
Karen recommends, so I left them alone, as she says.
But the areas where I am struggling (mentioned
above) all fall outside my flat, specifically in a
dirty, dusty, unheated general storage room across
the hall, full of tables and dead flowers (this is
my Prosperity corner, so no wonder I'm living from
paycheque to paycheque) and in the stairwell
outside. I can't do anything about the architecture
of my building, but she gave me several ideas how to
help the situation and make up for this lack of chi.
I made the changes yesterday (I buried a purple
pencil in the dirt floor of the storage room, for
example, in hopes of nudging my Prosperity into
action) and am hopeful that things will improve.
I'll keep you posted!
The Bible of Feng Shui - Karen Rauch
Carter explains Feng Shui in simple to understand,
humorous reading. This book literally changed my
life. It is so inexpensive and at this point, so dog
eared. Ü
If you're interested in Black Hat Sect Feng Shui,
this is the book to start with. It explains Feng
Shui in a way that makes it simple for even the
slowest of us to understand and implement.
And as I said, it changed my life... got me out of
the red in my checkbook, brought amazing
opportunities into my life, promoted family
harmony... just to name a few. I hit a bump in the
road, I head back to my book and figure out a new
cure. Works every time!
I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this book! I
highly recommend it!
Very good - I started doing small changes
at first, and was amazed at the results I got. I
tried some experiments, and so far, they have all
worked. Every vacation I go on is sunny and nice, my
Vice President sent me a huge compliment via email,
etc. I encourage everyone to have a copy of this
book to help have a happy, harmonious life.
Serious book not for the
dilettante or the weak-hearted - I started
reading this book after reading Principles of Feng
Shui by Larry Sang because I am seriously interested
in the history of Feng Shui as a methodology for
living harmoniously with the environment. Any
serious reader will want to read this book and do
the exercises to get a better understanding of
geomancy and the way alignment can be a metaphor for
spiritual and emotional "alignment" as well as moral
and social.
Dilettantes and wannabes who are interested only in
interior decorating or furniture placement need not
apply. They should check out interior decorating
books instead.
I would recommend this book highly to anyone who is
interested in truly learning about Feng Shui, the
historical and authentic practice and not the
watered-down, dumbed-down New Agey version of
crystals and charms.
Comprehensive and Enlightening - Unlike
many other Feng Shui books, A master course in Feng
Shui is more of a workbook instead of a
quick-reference solution. Beginners will find this
book useful and I would think the learning curve is
manageable. Eva Wong has also highlighted some of
the techniques she personally uses and coupled with
the many pictures and diagrams, this is a great book
that anyone interested in Feng Shui should get.
As for the 4/5 star rating, well Eva Wong's
perception of the flying star interpretation is very
different from other masters. Unlike most masters
who analyze the sitting and facing stars, Eva looks
at the base star and facing star. Some of her
interpretations seemed unsafe to me like the 3/8.
Nevertheless what you will learn off this book far
outweighs the controversial aspects.
A good book to ground yourself proper in Feng
Shui
Looking for a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T? - In
"A Master Course in Feng Shui", Eva Wong provides
the FS novice through practitioner with substantial
FS theory, application, and exercises on a wide
range of subjects such as site evaluation, matching
the person(s) to the building/site, space usage, &
commercial layouts. Her explanations of counter
measures and enhancers are thorough and in-depth.
Ms. Wong even gracefully and successfully maneuvers
the concepts of the Landform and Flying Star schools
- not an easy feat.
From a non-FS standpoint, the concepts in this
book are wonderfully organized and chunked to allow
for maximum absorption. Although this is a fairly
technical book, Eva Wong manages to provide an
enjoyable reading experience by infusing the book
with her formal, yet coherent and logical writing
style. I absolutely love the exercises at the end of
each chapter. Unlike many adult-learning texts, she
does not patronize her readers by providing easily
answered questions. On the contrary, the reader will
have an accurate gauge of his/her comprehension of
the pertinent material after completing the
end-of-chapter exercises.
With the plethora of FS books on the shelves
today, it is disappointing the majority of them are
heavy on hype and short on substance. Whether the
authors are guilty of recycling their old, worn
material continuously or penning "books" which are
little more than beefed-up brochures for their
workshops or schools, they all fail to deliver on
the basic promise to provide their readers with
genuine FS knowledge and tools. Eva Wong's "Master
Course in Feng Shui" more than delivers on this
promise. In addition, her respect for her readers is
evident by her dispensing of FS techniques most FS
authors deem "too advanced" for their readers. Ms.
Wong actually gets that most of us are adults *gasp*
and can quite nimbly grasp concepts beyond tying our
own shoelaces. So, on this alone, Ms. Wong would
have gotten my kudos.
If you, like me, are tired of getting gypped and
looking for a FS book with real meat and written by
a true expert, this is the book for you. It will be
a book you will reference over and over again. If
credentials are important, Ms. Wong is a true
lineage holder of the Hsüan-k'ung and practices San-yüan
and San-ho. More importantly, if you are looking for
some respect as an adult and committed FS learner,
then this is the book for you. Ms. Wong is a class
act and a "Master Course in Feng Shui" reflects this
in every aspect.
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Feng Shui, Third
Edition by Elizabeth Moran and Master Joseph Yu.
Worthy book! - This book is
the first one that made me realize that the 'eight
aspirations' school of Feng Shui is faux! It does
that by providing some information of what is
traditional Feng Shui, and therefore further
convinced me that traditional Feng Shui is not as
simple as the designated areas for wealth, health,
children etc. Among all the books on Feng Shui that
I've read, this is the only book that gives
examples, like the couple searching for a house and
the office case study. The only problem i have, is
the lack of defining the facing and sitting side of
a home, particularly the apartment. Other then that,
I had a great time reading this book. Get it folks,
it's worth it.
Thumbs up ! - A thorough, step-by-step,
easy to read book that looks at classical Feng Shui
without losing the Western reader along the way. A
big round of applause for its authors who have been
masters in the field for years and have taken the
time and effort to write this book and share their
knowledge. Loads of interesting facts, going back to
and providing a better insight in Chinese traditions
of how to approach the world and more particularly,
our living space. Distant from so many westernized
and generalized books about Feng Shui, this book
takes you every step of the way to a basic
understanding of some of the main principles of Feng
Shui and this in a fun and educative mode. A
definite thumbs up! If you are looking for a
thorough, interesting and fun way to learn about
Feng Shui, this is definitely the book for you. This
is not a book you want to put down once you've
started reading it and working with it. As you work
your way through the book, step-by-step, you get a
better insight in how we relate to our surroundings
and how we are influenced by it. A great way to help
you get a better insight into your life, your living
space and that of your close one's. Providing you
with a glimpse into what the future might hold for
you, you actually feel more confident in living your
life and protecting those of your loved ones.
Moreover, should you get stuck, Elizabeth Moran
actually takes the time to help you through any
rough patches. The first book I ever came across
that provides a service like that. A more than
worthwhile read!
Real Feng Shui and plenty of it - This is
one of the top handful of books on Feng Shui. It
introduces the reader gently, but then goes into
real detail on the most important Feng Shui issues,
Form, Eight Mansions and Flying Star Feng Shui. It
is probably the best book in English for relating
Chinese Four Pillar astrology to Feng Shui. Many
tables and diagrams make it particularly valuable as
both a first time read and a serious reference work.
I can wholeheartedly recommend it.
